Air Soundtracks Georges Melies' 1902 Sci-fi Genre Birth Le Voyage Dans La Lune

I haven’t thought about Air in years, and I don’t know what I would do if I heard “Surfing On a Rocket” right now as someone no longer in their early 20s and easily swayed by mega-chilltime-awesome-sextime electronic music by fashionable Frenchmen. Yet here we are in the year 2012 and Air is about to release a new album, originally composed as accompaniment to a new restoration of Georges Melies’ 1902 work Le Voyage Dans La Lune, the first ever sci-fi film and originally silent, of course. NPR has the full thing streaming over here.

Awesome chilltime-sextime music goes retro sci-fi, why not.
