This Amazing Time Lapse Footage of Mushrooms is Ripe For Metaphor
Posted by DerekMead on Thursday, Feb 02, 2012
This is a selection from a feature documentary about mycologist Paul Stamets and his life of mushrooms, produced by Louie Schwartzberg. The footage of mushroom mycelia slowly bursting forth from the ground is matched by Stamets’ commentary on the importance and beauty of fungi in the world’s ecosystems. Sure, it may be metaphor-heavy, but I say that’s okay. With video like this, it’s best to just kick back, let snark take a back seat, and enjoy the trippy ride.
