Baby Sloths are Ridiculously Adorable (Video)

Sloths are weird. They move really slowly, their stomachs don’t work very well, they don’t smell too great and they often have moss growing in their fur. Yet despite lacking the stunning badassery of, say, a peregrine falcon, people dig sloths.

Lucy Cooke proved that fact last year with her video “Meet the Sloths” about the Sloth Sanctuary of Costa Rica, an organization that runs a pair of rehab centers for injured and abandoned sloths. “Meet the Sloths” turned out to be a huge hit, and Cooke even shared her sloth experiences in a guest spot on VICE’s Cute Show.

If you haven’t already, meet the sloths

Costa Rica is home to large sloth populations, but they’re being negatively affected by the usual culprits of climate change and habitat degradation. Also, with Costa Rica’s ever-growing tourist population, it doesn’t help that sloths aren’t always sprightly enough to get out of the way of passing cars.

After the success of “Meet the Sloths,” Cooke continued documenting the work being done by Sloth Sanctuary. That’s been turned into a full-length documentary, called Too Cute! Baby Sloths, airing December 17 on Animal Planet. Cooke just released a trailer, which we’ve shared above. Before you watch it, let me warn you: Baby sloths really are almost uncomfortably cute.
