Ones + Zeros is pondering and considering the implication of having more zeros than ones. It’s rather ominous isn’t it?

  • Solar cells that work forever. These self-repairing solar cells are a huge breakthrough, scientists are saying — allowing them to produce energy extracted from the sun indefinitely. Sounds good to me.
  • Google’s world domination continues. Now they’re launching their own music business. That and Android based Samsung TVs. It’s already too late isn’t it.
  • Evidence of an ancient civilization. The Amazon was supposed to be uninhabitable because of its harsh conditions. Scientists are now finding evidence of a civilization with as many as 20 million members.

  • South Korea could ban steam. So there’s this rule in Korea where all games need to be officially rated and approved by the Department of Videogame Rating Board of Korea. That includes indie games and flash games even. Crazy. It’s also expensive so a lot of developers might not be able to afford the process. This means that a lot of Steam games won’t make the cut or the country might just ban Steam altogether. Not cool.
  • Scientist tries to understand why people think Obama is Muslim. It’s a perplexing and contentious issue. Obama is by all accounts a practicing Christian yet for some reason the number of people who think he is Muslim has increased year over year. Spee Kosloff tries to figure out why. Oh, the media? Why am I not surprised.
  • Julian Assange can’t catch a break. It’s to be expected. From hero to zero. They blow you up and then drag you down. Whether or not you believe the conspiracy theories — the rape allegations came just after and could upend Assange’s application for Swedish residency which would have allowed him journalistic protection as head editor of WikiLeaks. Now the rest of WikiLeaks has had enough. But it’s not the rape charges that’s the problem, note the anonymous insiders. It’s his Austin Powers lifestyle!
  • Another reason to quit Facebook. This one’s obvious but the number is actually pretty significant. Users who use Facebook while studying score 20% worse than those who don’t.
  • The bee problem is getting serious. Just because M. Night Shyamalan made it the premise of a horrible movie doesn’t mean it isn’t true. Scientists have been wondering about the bee problem for quite some time. Now researchers are confirming a severe downward trend in pollination. Global warming plays a part as its changed the timing for when flowers open which has put it out of sync of bee hibernation patterns.
