The Most Disturbing Memes Of 2010

2010 was another fabulous year for the Internet meme. With gems like double rainbow, f*cking magnets, and who could forget, the Antoine Dodson “Bed Intruder” song, memes reached a dizzying new level of cultural significance.

But there were some memes this year that could be a bit unnerving, the kind that made us wish we knew how to forget the password to our wireless router. For the good of the internet, I covered my eyes, made a contorted face, and reached deep inside the bowels of the web to show you the most disturbing memes of the year:

1. Jessi Slaughter

Exposing how awful it can be when clueless parents give their child unsupervised access to webcam, 11 year old Jessi Slaughter came on to the scene this summer after pissing off all of 4chan. After making a video telling haters that she will “pop a glock in your mouth and make a brain slushie”, various corners of the Internet began to raid her Stickam account. In what may have been the worst possible way to react to trolls, Jessi made a video with her father screaming into the camera that he “back-traced” the people harassing her, contacted the “cyber police”, and ended with the confusing like “consequences will never be the same”. This really brought to light how technologically illiterate parents are unequipped to deal with today’s online dangers, and how you should never, ever, let your child use Stickam.

2. Interior Semiotics

Natacha Stolz unintentionally created a viral hit when she performed her nihilistic art piece “Interior Semiotics” at an art show in Chicago under the pseudonym “Pizza Slut”. A video was uploaded to YouTube that begins with Natacha opening a can of SpaghettiO’s, and smearing them over her shirt while proclaiming “everything is sh*t”. After a series of grunt noises (supposedly a poem read backwards), she takes a pair of scissors, cuts a hole in her crotch, and proceeds to urinate into a can. Afterwards an audience member yells “Yea, ART!”.

3. Pedo-Falcor

Prepare to have your childhood ruined. Someone edited the scene where Atreyu wakes up in Falcor’s care to make it look like he was molested, and then he proceeds to perform some kind of sexual act on him. I hate you, Internet.

4. Worst Wedding DJ Ever

This confusing video shows a DJ slapping the breasts of some poor woman standing on stage at a wedding reception. Apparently the man calls himself “Fast Eddie”, and after the bride and groom saw the clip they stopped payment on Eddie’s check.

The videographer who recorded the incident was interviewed by Urlesque, and noted:

As far as I know, I think I am the only person who saw it. Possibly the little girl in the foreground too, but she’ll likely need therapy now.

Eddie himself says he is not ashamed of the incident, and claims “that’s just my personality”. Charming guy.

5. The Human Centipede

This ridiculous horror movie had a premise that was so disgusting that it managed to turn into a full blown Internet meme. There were tattoos, necklaces, and even a cat toy.
